  • Infamous: Second Son – Free Upgrade to Limited Edition, Collector Editions Details, Cole’s Legacy DLC

Sony has just revealed that they will be release two bundles for Infamous: Second Son, the first of many PlayStation 4 exclusives coming out February 2014.

First is the Limited Edition which as previously mentioned will include in-game vests for the protagonist Delsin Rowe. In addition to that players will also get the Cole’s Legacy DLC. This DLC is not available for purchase separately, and highlights the events that occurred between Infamous 2 and Second Son. The awesome part is that anyone who has pre-ordered the standard game or will pre-order it in the future will be receiving the Limited Edition free of charge.

This is what the description says, "Cole MacGrath’s actions in New Marias set in motion a chain of events leading to the now forceful occupation of Seattle by the oppressive Department of Unified Protection. Cole’s Legacy bridges this gap in time with a series of missions Delsin Rowe must complete that reveal unique insights into how the world of Infamous: Second Son came to be."

And as for the Collector’s Edition, it is currently priced at $79.99 and will include a new in-game vest, a set of pins, exclusive box cover, replica of Delsin’s beanie, decals, and a DUP patch along with Cole’s Legacy DLC. Pretty nifty bundle for the price actually but, if you are not so sure about the Collector’s Edition just pre-order the game to get your hands on the Limited Edition for free.

With beautifully original and though provoking tiles like Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls, Quantic Dream is in no way a stranger to gamers. Considering their amazing work on the PS3, I wonder how much more amazing their project being developed for the PlayStation 4 is going to be.

Other than Beyond: Two Souls, Quantic Dream had only shown PS4 stage during the console’s initially revealed this past February. The demo was titled The Dark Sorcerer and basically showed off the capabilities of the console. But no clue was given regarding what their next IP was really going to be about.

Till now all that has been said by David Cage, Quantic Dream boss, was that the game will be “very, very different” in comparison to Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. He added that they were “building on the same grounds but in a very, very different way." Considering both titles mentioned are already quite different from other AAA titles, I really have no idea what to expect. But it is safe to say that that is exactly what they are going for.

"People should expect to be surprised again because this is really what we try to do with each game: not give people what they expect, give them something they want maybe without knowing this is what they want" added Cage.

Currently this mystery project is in the pre-production phase mainly because the studio had been investing all resources on Beyond. Cage had said before that this game will be featuring “one of the strongest concepts” he has ever come up with, which makes waiting for the reveal that much harder.

A pretty nifty deal was just made between Microsoft and Coinstar that would allow Xbox Live currency and Gold members available at Coinstar kiosks. This news was recently announced by the alternative payment system Rixty. What this basically means is that any change that you have on you can now be used on Xbox Live, as long as you have a Coinstar machine nearby of course. This is what Ted Sorom, Rixty CEO had to say about this,

“Rixty is already an established alternative payment platform for online games, and we’re proud to be selected as one of the few approved Xbox Live Gift Card and Gold Membership wholesalers. By expanding our channels to nontraditional resellers such as loyalty and incentive programs, we’re giving these partners access to lucrative new products and consumers more convenient ways to obtain their favorite entertainment content.”

For now we can obtain Xbox Live currency starting from $5 to $100. The other cool thing is that, in addition to the Xbox 360's marketplace, the Xbox Live cash can also be spent on the Windows Store on Windows Phones and Windows 8 tablets and PCs. So finally we have use for all the loose change lying around the house!

Well this is surprising. I guess the records being taken away hit Activision harder than anyone else thought. Or am I reading too much into it?

Just recently Activision has come out and said that Rockstar should not get too comfortable with all the records they have broken. UK senior brand manager Kevin Flynn denied that Call of Duty franchise was in decline in an interview with MCV. He added that the release of Call of Duty: Ghosts would be a wake-up call for the other companies currently dominating the marketplace.

"Congratulations to the team at Rockstar for their success," and then adding, "We look forward to getting the record back before the next GTA title.”

"We know that our unaided awareness for Ghosts is leading the way against other unreleased triple-A titles. Our digital content has proven extremely popular and Black Ops II has sold more than 3m units in the UK."

I guess this is just another way to get the spot light back on them after GTA V’s launch. But now that people are paying attention, they better have something good to show for it. If anyone has now clue what all the fuss is about, currently GTA V holds 7 Guinness World Records, several of which once belonged to the CoD franchise, which includes UK’s fastest selling game.

CoD Ghosts is set for release on the 5th of November on the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Wii U. It will also be available on the next gen consoles, PS4 and Xbox One, upon launch. So what do you guys think, can Ghosts pull off what Activision claims?

    Xbox Live gamertag screen-578-80

Microsoft announced that gamers will not be able to use their real names online on Xbox One, despite Microsoft previously saying that this would be one of the features available when the console releases.

As it stands now it has been confirmed that Xbox owners will be able identify friends using the Gamertags but for now the real names will not be appearing online, at least for some time to come. This is what one of Microsoft’s spokesperson had to say about it to Kotaku.

"While real identities continue to be part of our plans for the experience on Xbox One, at launch, customers will continue to search for friends using their Gamertags. Our teams are working hard to deliver a quality experience for Xbox One. This means prioritizing some features and sometimes postponing others for a later update."

Sony had also announced in February that they intended to allow gamers to search for their friends in the PS4 using their real names but since then there have been no updates. So right now we are not sure whether it will available on launch or not. I guess in a few more weeks we find it out for ourselves.

There is a spot of bad news for us guys. It seems that Ubisoft has decided to delay the highly anticipated Watch Dogs. Even The Crew will be delayed it seems. Watch Dogs was initially set to be released during November 2013, while the crew was to come out by March 2014. Now Ubisoft has confirmed that Watch Dogs will be released somewhere between April and June 2014, and The Crew will be released between July and September 2014. This is what Ubisoft had to say in their official blog.

"Our ambition from the start with Watch Dogs has been to deliver something that embodies what we wanted to see in the next-generation of gaming. It is with this in mind that we’ve made the tough decision to delay the release until spring 2014.

We know a lot of you are probably wondering: Why now? We struggled with whether we would delay the game. But from the beginning, we have adopted the attitude that we will not compromise on quality. As we got closer to release, as all the pieces of the puzzle were falling into place in our last push before completion, it became clear to us that we needed to take the extra time to polish and fine tune each detail so we can deliver a truly memorable and exceptional experience.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you. We thoroughly enjoy and appreciate the way you respond on the web, at events, press conferences and other opportunities we have to interact. Your passion keeps us motivated. We can’t wait to see you in Chicago next spring. We are confident you’ll love this game as much as we love working on it."

In a separate statement Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Cuillemot had this to say,

"Our long term goal is to win the next generation. The tough decisions we are taking today to fully realize the major potential of our new creations have an impact on our short-term performance. We are convinced that, longer term, they will prove to be the right decisions both in terms of satisfaction for our fans and in terms of value creation for our shareholders. We are building franchises that will become perennial pillars of Ubisoft’s financial performance. In a context of growing successes for mega-blockbusters, the additional time given to the development of our titles will allow them to fulfill their huge ambitions and thus offer players even more exceptional experiences.

Fueled by strong momentum for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, calendar 2014 will see the return of growth to the console market. Combined with the quality of our line-up and our strong financial situation, this growth will allow us to achieve record operating income in fiscal 2014-15 and 2015-16."

So there you have it guys. It might sound like an idea to gain more money but if they are really serious about making the game even better, then it is a win-win situation. I just hope they don’t delay it any further.

Map size has become a huge thing, with games like Skyrim and GTA V leading the way. But it seems Ubisoft has a take on the world map when it came to Watch Dogs. They are going with the age old line, size isn’t everything.

Although Jonathan Morin, creative director of Watch Dogs, did mention that the world map of the game will be "huge," he clarified that the size of the map was not to the key aspect here, the density of it was. In a recent interview Morin compared the world map of Watch Dogs to GTA V.

"GTA5 has a huge world but it has flying, it has jets so it serves that purpose. You don't have a jet unless you have the space to fly into. Us, we have huge density, so if we double or triple the scale then you're going to start hitting repetition because we wanted to aim for the density first. We wanted the game to be the right size for that density, so it's a matter of balancing what you want to achieve."

He also mentioned that they gameplay might require players to "stand still and profile people for ten minutes," during which time you are actually playing without moving. He said that this was of importance to him since the experience during that time was way better than just moving from one point to another.

And yes, it has been confirmed that Watch Dogs will not include airplanes. Your only mode of transportation would be ground based. Another fun fact that came up was that the game will be running at a steady 30FPS on the PS4 and Xbox One. So if you are one of those gamers who dislike this frame rate, maybe you might want to stick to current gen version.

Seems Microsoft wants us to play with our friends on Xbox One and has thus provided us with the tools to do it. We can consider Xbox Live as the basic groundwork for socializing on Xbox 360, with the newer version built for the social media age from the bottom up.

In a recent video Xbox spokesman Major Nelson details out how social interaction will work on the Xbox One. Like before you can play, chat and share videos and achievements with friends. To add to that, Xbox Live now learned a bit from Twitter and will allow the “following system”. This would allow players to be able to follow who ever they like but with a higher privacy that that would be implicated on mutual friends.

Xbox Live Program Manager Rob Lehew gave this example on “A great driver in ‘Forza Motorsport 5, could have a huge group of thousands or even millions of followers all tracking their performance in-game. Those followers can have this driver on their personal leaderboard so that they can constantly keep track of how they stack-up, and they can potentially connect online with the driver to get into a race with him.”

    dualshock PC compatible

I know it is nothing major, even expected to some extent but it is a welcome addition nonetheless. From out of the box the PS4 DualShock 4 will be compatible with the PC and will have basic functioning.

This news was posted on Twitter by Sony Worldwide Studios head Shuhei Yoshida who said that the DualShock 4 "analog sticks and buttons will work just fine." Although he did not mention whether any support will be necessary to allow this compatibility, such as how the the PS3 controllers require third-party support to function.

However judging by his words I guess it will work intuitively. Just like how the PS3 controller works on mobile devices when you simply connect it with a USB cable. However, since he said “basic functionalities”, it is doubtful that DualShock 4's advanced features like the light bar, touch pad, and motion controls will function on Windows PCs. At least not right away.

    GTA Online character

Finally the mother of all patches has been released. The major issue that was plaguing countless players and made the game literally unplayable has been fixed! I mean what is the purpose of playing if none of your progress will be saved?

Rockstar has just released this new patch for both the Xbox 360 and PS3. This would now prevent your GTA Online characters from being randomly deleted. In a post on Rockstar Newswire they explained that the latest update will be preventing players from losing their- characters, cash, rank and apartments. Vehicles might still be lost though, but that would occur only in unique circumstances.

"A new title update to address the reported issues of game progress loss in GTA Online as well as other technical fixes, tweaks and enhancements is now available for PlayStation 3, and we expect it to be available by tomorrow at the latest for Xbox 360".

"This title update will resolve the cause of players losing their gameplay progress except for some specific instances where players purchase a vehicle and the save does not occur due to a cloud save failure. A fix for that particular issue is being worked on and we will provide an update as soon as we know when this will be resolved."

Even though this patch has been released, Rockstar reiterated their advice that they gave regarding the saves once more. Exit GTA Online by returning to Single Player in order to force a save, and do not select "Retry" or create a temporary character when confronted with a message saying the Rockstar Cloud Servers are down.

On top of all this they are currently looking into the cause behind the loss of characters and what can be done about it. However it is not known whether the characters can be restored or if compensation provided.

There are also a list of issue that are fixed which include - issues with infinite loading times, races ending early due to spawn problems, missing interface options, retry button not working, loss of guns and ammo, getting stuck in the lobby for Last Team Standing, adjusted monetary punishment for being killed in a One on One match.
