    destiny house of wolves pvp

It looks like a new update will be released alongside the House of Wolves expansion for Destiny to make the competitive PVP side of the game more fulfilling.

In the latest Destiny weekly update, David Dague posted information about the upcoming changes. “Shortly before the hunt for the House of Wolves begins on May 19th, all players will download Update 1.2.0 for Destiny.”

"It will be another evolution for the experience you know.”

In update 1.2.0, some of the most exciting changes will be applied to the Crucible. For example, players will now have the chance to be awarded with Legendary items at the end of a Crucible match. The amount of reputation and marks earned within a Crucible match will also be doubled.

The Iron Banner will undergo some changes - Some exploits will be fixed and a new currency called Etheric Light can be purchased from the Iron Banner vendor. Players will be able to use Etheric Light to upgrade the damage of legendary and exotic weapons. Players will be upgrade right up to the 365 damage cap.

The three maps that were released in the Dark Below expansion pack will also be put up for all players in update 1.2.0. These maps are Skyshock, The Cauldron and Pantheon.

You may have already heard about the new Trials of Osiris feature that will be added to the House of Wolves expansion as well. Trials of Osiris will be a new three versus three elimination game mode that will allow strong performing teams to unlock better gear.

  • Destiny: Top 10 Weapons Used by Players according to Bungie

Loot is what drives Destiny. With complaints regarding the repetitive and limited content, what keeps players coming back for long gaming sessions is the loot; the exotics and the legendaries we want our friends to be jealous of.

Regardless of the difference in classes the game is solely a first person shooter with all or at least most emphasis being placed on weapons. Considering that, it was I guess natural of Bungie to show off what guns are favorite amongst the gamers.

Bungie’s chief resident researcher aka Dr. Bunson Honeydew wrote, "Weapon use in Destiny is pretty diverse and follows a very fat 'long tail' distribution. The guns on these lists are indeed awesome but a lot of players are finding that other, more obscure weapons better fit their tactical needs or their personal play styles."

So following is a list of the top 10 weapons being used by players in Destiny’s PVE.

    1. Vision of Confluence
    2. Khvostov 7G-02
    3. Cydonia-AR3
    4. The Stranger's Rifle
    5. Marshal-A
    6. Suros Regime
    7. Marshal-A1
    8. Atheon's Epilogue
    9. Shingen-E
    10. Galahad-E

The next set are the top 10 weapons being used by players in the PVE section of Destiny called the Crucible:

    1. SUROS Regime
    2. Vex Mythoclast
    3. Thorn
    4. Atheon's epilogue
    5. Shingen-E
    6. Cydonia-AR3
    7. The Last Word
    8. Galahad-E
    9. Up For Anything
    10. The Stranger's Rifle

There you have it guys. Did your favorite make the cut? If not do let us know which combo is your favorite for causing having in both Destiny’s PVE and PVP modes.

  • Destiny’s Weekly Blocked behind Pay-Wall

Destiny players are no strangers to grinding. But every player waits for a specific day every week (Tuesday) for the moment when high level activities which give good rewards are refreshed. I’m talking about the Weekly Heroic Strike and the Nightfall Strikes which players can do once a week.

It’s not surprising that the players will get frustrated when they are unable to play these which is exactly what happened at the launch of Destiny’s first DLC – The Dark Below. Both the strikes were part of the new DLC (worth $20) thus players who didn’t own it were unable to play those. Making the wait 2 weeks instead of one.

Bungie said the following to IGN, "All existing strikes and maps are still accessible. Specific activities like nightfall will periodically feature expansion 1 content on the week the newest content is live. New public events, updated weapons and gear, new bounties, and of course the steady stream of updates are all available without additional cost to all players." I am sure that this pushed a lot of players off of Destiny. Those who don’t want to invest in the DLC will now have expect themselves to be barred from end game content whenever DLC specific strikes come into rotation.

  • Destiny’s Exotic Gear Ruined?

Gamers are unsure of what to feel about the changes brought to exotic weapons. True that some received buffs that we were long waiting for but the new upgrade system leaves me for one, wanting more.

The big change was that the exotic weapons and armors no longer require ascendant material to level up but require one more new material, “exotic shard”, to unlock the last upgrade. You can either get these exotic shards by breaking down old exotic weapons or by buying them from Xur for seven strange coins for one exotic shard.

The major issue is that old exotics became obsolete. Old exotics armors provided less light (30 vs 36 for upgraded exotics), and old exotic weapons do less damage than upgraded ones. So it goes without saying that everyone wants to upgrade their current exotics. But to do that you have to spend 1 exotic shard and 7000 glimmer per weapon or armor. To make matters worse, you will then need to re-level your exotics again from scratch! Talk about a grind fest.

Seeing the fan outcry Bungie provided the following notes on exotics including the fact that the upgraded exotics will be easier to level up.

    • Destiny will continue to provide new ways to evolve • Your existing items will still be effective in any encounter • The Dark Below will contain exclusive options to level up • More powerful Exotics will drop, or be sold by Xûr • More powerful Legendaries will drop, or be sold by vendors • More powerful Raid gear will drop - and more often! • More predictable options will upgrade beloved Exotics • Exotic upgrades purchased from Xûr replace weaker items • Exotic upgrade paths require much less time and material • An upgraded Exotic is more powerful right out of the box

All this is well and good. But my question is this – will we need to do all this again when the next DLC lands? I am not looking forward to that at all. Like many gamers out there, this DLC made some big changes to the game that really killed my addiction to it.

  • Destiny’s The Dark Below DLC Details

Destiny’s first DLC – The Dark Below – will be arriving on the 9th of December across all platforms. The DLC is a part of the $35 season pass containing two pieces of DLC or can be bought on its own for $20. Fans of Destiny have been waiting for this DLC to get much needed variety required in the game. This is what Bungie president Harold Ryan had to say:

"Destiny was created as a living universe, which has allowed us to improve the experience post launch in real-time. It also gives us insight into the things players are looking for in new content. We've seen from feedback that people want new activities, gear and weapons, and of course the immensely popular Raid. The community helps shape our development decisions and that’s really important to us."

List of everything you can expect from this DLC: -- New weapons, armor, and gear to earn, including Legendary and Exotic items -- Light Level cap raised to 32 and five additional Bounty slots added -- New story quests and missions--after years hiding amongst the Hive shadows, a new character, Eris, has come forth bearing an ominous warning: The Hive seek to summon a god, Crota, to destroy the Earth. Find Eris in the Tower to take on special quests that include three new missions where you will increase your Light and earn new rewards -- New cooperative Strike, The Will of Crota, pits you and your Fireteam against Omnigul as she works to expand the Hive army at the command of her master, Crota -- Three new competitive multiplayer arenas -- New six-player Raid, Crota’s End, set deep within the depths of the Hellmouth -- PlayStation platforms will also get access to an exclusive cooperative Strike, The Undying Mind, and more (timed exclusive until at least Fall 2015)

  • Destiny Is Like A First-Party For PlayStation 4

There is no denying that Sony made some big deals with Activision that give Sony major perks when it comes to Destiny. Exclusive content aside, Microsoft does not even have the right to advertise Destiny!

Just recently Microsoft did an advert for a fragrance called Destiny in a cheeky bid to still advertise the game’s connection with Microsoft. He is what a spokesperson from Xbox UK had to say - "Okay, so here's the lowdown. Destiny is actually an epic new first-person shooter, available on Xbox. Thing is, we didn't have permission to run adverts for the game. So we didn't. Thanks for smelling that something was up. Now get the game and become a legend."

This marketing strategy is to create a feeling that Destiny is sort of a PlayStation exclusive. We all know it’s not, but at the very least it makes gamers see that Destiny is best on the PS4 and PS3.

Sony UK boss Fergal Gara said in an interview with Eurogamer that Sony is so involved with Destiny that it almost feels like a first-party game:

"We're treating it, for all intents and purposes internally, as if it's a first-party release," he said. "We're wrapping our arms around it on all levels of the organisation. It's a special project and an important project and it has the power to launch Christmas. It's hugely important."

"I think a lot of people are going to decide now is the time to go and buy a PlayStation 4 because this very ambitious project has come along that looks exciting. Yes, it's fantastic to have the exclusive content and the co-marketing, but it's more than that. It's a parallel track we've ridden together to get to this point. It's a lovely synergy that we're also going to have big milestones and set records."

Since the launch of the PS4, Destiny has surely become the bestselling game on the console. And there is no doubt that it is a system seller. This game boosted the sales of both the Xbox One and PS4 upon release. The PS4 Destiny bundle did especially well. Now let’s hope that the mediocre reviews for Destiny don’t slow down this trend, otherwise Sony might have just lost a bet.

  • Bungie Says Forget 1080p/60FPS -- Only Gameplay Matters

Well a lot of people have been sore about the fact that the Bungie’s new masterpiece runs at 30 FPS. This technical nitpicking seems to a side effect of the next generation consoles. This is common question now - "Will it run at 1080p and 60 frames per second?"

Well Destiny production director Jonty Barnes will have no more of it. Speaking with The Sixth Axis in an interview he explained how he felt. He said that gamers and even manufacturers put too much emphasis on 1080p/60FPS. The most important thing should be the gameplay:

"I feel like as an industry, people are caring less and less about numbers, which is great. It always used to be about graphics, and though 1080p and 60Hz are still out there, and as platform providers get competitive around those things it seems to magnify the importance of it.

But it isn't about that. It's actually what is an awesome gameplay experience for the player and anything that gets in the way of the best player experience is baggage. I'm quoting directly from [Bungie co-founder Jason Jones] there. And, you know, as we've seen over the last few years, computer games are so much better, they're so much higher quality, and it's much more about the experience and less about those statistics."

Well I do agree with him. Gameplay is crucial. Still as time goes on we will continue to receive masterpieces that are both visually astounding and a joy to play. Those will be the games that will be remembered forever. This a good time to be a gamer, all we got to do is be patient and not complain over every small thing.
