  • Sony To Announce PS4 Exclusives for Holiday 2015?

Seeing how Uncharted 4: A Thief's End was delayed to 2016, we wondered whether PlayStation 4’s holiday lineup would remain lack luster. Seems this may not be the case.

Speaking to MCV, UK Managing Director Fergal Gara said,

"I won't go into any detail now. There is plenty for gamers to get excited about already, such as Tearaway for PS4 and No Man's Sky. That's just the start of what is on the table right now. So I don't have any concerns that we will have a lack of strong software for PS4 this peak."

This somehow feels awfully suggestive that Sony has something up their sleeves. With E3 coming up it might be the perfect time to reveal what they have been working on. He continued on to say,

"My sense is that the new platforms have opened up the ambitions of developers and the capabilities of what they can achieve. What has then happened since has been a bit of rushing to market and a couple of not perfect launches. That's perhaps driven some conservatism to not overly force this and make sure we get it right--there's been an adjustment of pace."

He added regarding the flood of delayed games, "I have been hearing stories from around the industry that give me assurance that developers have got a better grasp on things, so we will be in increasingly good shape.”

  • Doom Revealed at E3, Gameplay Teaser Trailer

There were trailers and now there are teasers to said trailers. I think Bethesda has broken the record for the shortest teaser trailer for the upcoming reboot of Doom. Before they officially reveal the game at E3 (June 14, 2015), or at least the full trailer, this is our first look at the game.

The teaser is just 11 seconds long and only gives us a glimpse of the sort of beasts we may encounter in the game. Sort of giving us an idea of what to expect from the game. Interestingly, there is a beta that is on the works. The official release date of the beta will probably come along with the reveal of the game.

The news that Bethesda would hold its very first E3 press conference was announced a few months ago. The fact that this was happening meant that they had something big to show. Based on the rumors that have been floating for years now, we can all assume that it is going to be Fallout 4.

For now enjoy the Doom teaser trailer:

  • The Order: 1886 Gameplay Controversy and Delay

    the order

The Order: 1886 is one of the most anticipated upcoming titles, not only because it is a PS4 exclusive but also because the tech and story of the game thus far looks very intriguing. It is a single player experience set in an alternate Victorian London.

Although the game was set to be released by 2014’s holiday season it seems that the developers had decided to push the launch back a few months. At a pre-E3 Sony event, Ready at Dawn chief Ru Weerasuriya explained their decision to Eurogamer,

"We want to hold true to something we've talked about in the past, which is delivering the experience without having this ebb and flow of: oh, this was really great and that was kind of meh, because we sacrificed a little time on it."

"We have an open discussion with Sony all the time. We said, 'Look, we can achieve the quality you expect everywhere, but delivering on this is going to take a few more months.'

"It's not that long. It's worth it if we can deliver on the promise we made."

The developers have gone for what can be a called a seamless “filmic” experience. The high visual fidelity allows them to create beautiful visuals which cannot be separated from the cut scenes, creating a beautiful unique experience. According to the developers this has been a greater challenge and they are learning as they move forward.

In my opinion it is commendable that they are taking the time to polish the game to its best state instead of just pushing it out the door. Maybe this decision will play in their favor as new issue arose with fan uproar concerning the new gameplay video for the Order. According to those who are complaining, the game looks repetitive and uninteresting.

    Check out the video: http://youtu.be/l8pl3aVnsyE

Honestly from that short video there is little that can very little that can be assumed. All I got a sense of was a very polished cover mechanic and beautiful visuals. Since it is a 3rd person shooter it will definitely have similarities to other games but calling it boring just based off of what we see here seems illogical. Well that is my opinion, what do you guys think?

  • Insider Says Nathan Drake Will be Uncharted 4 Protagonist

    PS4 Game

Well-known gaming industry insider Tidux has given some information on Uncharted 4, and by the sounds of it, things are certainly going to be quite interesting. Last week, Tidux mentioned that Uncharted 4 was going to be a more story-driven game. Tidux has now stated that he’s seen gameplay footage of the latest build of Uncharted 4, and apparently he has ‘no words’ for just how good the title is.

Luckily, that’s not quite true - Tidux did have some words to share on Uncharted 4, but they are all pretty positive. Firstly, Tidux has said that the game is looking great in regards to the graphics, which really isn’t unexpected at this point; Naughty Dog have always been pioneers when it comes to graphical capability on consoles, and the PlayStation 4 will give them a lot more hardware power to dig their teeth into.

Tidux also went on to confirm that the protagonist for Uncharted 4 will be Nathan Drake, going back to the roots of the franchise. I expect the game will delve more deeply into Nathan Drake’s personal story, so I think Uncharted 4 will be an incredibly important game for the series as a whole.

Remember that this information is not official, so don’t take it at face value just yet. Hopefully you’ll hear more about it very soon - E3 is very close, and if we don’t hear anything about it then, there’s bound to be a lot to hear about it at some point this year.

  • Half-Life 3 and Left for Dead 3 in Development According to Counter-Strike Creator

    LEGITL4D3

Major news! According to "Gooseman" Le, the highly sought after sequel to Half-Life 2 is actually under development.

Speaking on the goRGNtv podcast Le said, "I don't think I can talk about that, to be honest, but I think it's kind of public knowledge, that people know that it is being worked on. I guess I could say that I did see something that looked kinda like in the Half-Life universe. And I mean it wouldn't surprise anyone if I said they're doing it, they're working on it, yeah. So to go on a limb I'd say I did see some concept art for Half-Life 3."

He also confirmed that he saw the still unannounced Left for Dead 3 which he is “really excited” for, "I saw it, it looks great. I was really excited when I saw that, I was like 'wow, this looks great'."

Seems Valve had no intention of letting us know about any of these massive titles. The last we heard about these titles were when their names appeared in a certain Valve documentation over a year ago. When questioned Gabe Newell, Valve boss, said that they were currently more into looking into the multiplayer gaming that creating Half Life sequels.

We all knew that they would be working on it someday but it is great news indeed that we might just be seeing them along with a release date this E3!  I guess the multiplayer gaming he referred back then might have been Left for Dead 3 which might be more complete and they may just be working on the concept for HL3. Can’t wait for E3.

    Sledgehammer-vid

Sledgehammer has been given a massive undertaking. They are the first to bring CoD to the next generation with the launch of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. You can guess the amount of pressure they are in considering the legions of fans who want this game to be perfect. It has been a while since CoD has gotten an overhaul and everyone is looking towards this iteration to blow them away.

Well just to make sure that the fans understand them, Sledgehammer has posted on Reddit saying that they really care about their core audience and are constantly listening to their fans. This is what Sledgehammer co-founder Michael Condrey had to say,

"Sledgehammer Games takes fan feedback very seriously. With [40 million] voices strong, there are always going to be competing viewpoints within the fan community. We also have passionate visions of the game we want to deliver. Bottom line, we actively listen, even if we can't always respond or agree.

So thanks for being here, and for helping us make the game be the best it can. Every developer on this game has one goal--to create the highest quality experience of our careers. So one favor--keep it classy and constructive. As fans, we owe it to each other and the game."

CoD Advanced Warfare will be hitting the shelved on 4th November 2014. For now only the debut trailer is out and most of us are still waiting to see the multiplayer reveal. Guess it will follow shortly. Expect something big at E3 which is just a few weeks away.

  • Assassin’s Creed Unity: 4 Players Co-op

    495796

More news keeps arriving for the ‘next-gen’ installment for the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Unity. It seems that Ubisoft has big plans for it.

According to The Escapist, Assassin’s Creed Unity will be boasting a 4 player co-operative mode which will be story based. This is the first time something like this has been done for this franchise. Ubisoft is rumored to be showing off Unity and all its new features at this year’s E3. According to IGN, this bit of info was first tweeted by Shinobi682 and then later verified by The Escapist.

As of now it seems IGN has reached out to Ubisoft for comments, but I guess Ubisoft will not be commenting on anything till they are done with their official reveal. All we know about Unity now is that it will be taking place in France during the French revolution. Early development images have been leaked and Ubisoft has confirmed that the game will be coming out for PC, PS4, and Xbox One this fall.

  • The Division’s Amazing Next-Gen Engine

    division

Revolutionary game engines have been coming out over the years, some more impressive than others. All of these have been showcased in over the past. Square Enix’s showed off Luminous Studio with a brilliant tech demo back in E3 2012. We all know about the powerful Frostbite 3 that allows Battlefield to look so good and similarly impressive Unreal Engine 4. Now it’s time to add Snowdrop to that list.

Snowdrop is the engine power one of the most anticipated games coming out for PS4 and Xbox One, Tom Clancy’s The Division. Ubisoft showed off The Division at E3 2013, and it blew everyone away. It was a completely unexpected reveal and everything in that game was new, exciting, and all everyone imagined a next-gen game should have.

You can already tell by the way I am talking about this game that it is on the top of my most anticipated games. Other than the amazing 15 minute gameplay trailer made available since E3 last year, there has not been any major reveals for The Division. However, they did show us a bit more of the engine that made it all possible. Definitely check out that video linked below.

    Snow Drop Engine - http://youtu.be/_F-hwyu9bcU

Although Snowdrop is just being used for The Division at the moment, from what we know at least, it will definitely be used for many more games in the future. I mean the reason why a company puts so much effort creating an engine is to use it for many more projects. I for one am excited to see what else this engine is capable off. Simply cannot wait!

  • Microsoft’s New First Party Studio Revealed

    microsoft_black_1

In a recent trademark filing by Microsoft it was revealed one of their existing first-party game studios which have been around for a while. Although it took a while, it has finally received a formal name from Microsoft.

According to Neowin, the filing was made for a word mark with the description - "The mark consists of the letters LXP' superimposed over an image of an astronaut." More info about this was provided by a NeoGAF user who found that a London based design studio called Territory Studio had created the logo for LXP. It was also revealed that LXP stands for Leap Experience Pioneers.

From Territory Studio’s website further info about LXP was available, "Leap Experience Pioneers (LXP) are an in-house games developer for Microsoft based in the US. Although they had been in existence for some years they thought it was the right time to define their identity... They considered themselves pioneers (as their name suggests) and wanted to encapsulate the spirit of fronteering Americans - combining a cowboy with an astronaut with attitude. We then set about creating some short animated logo stings and brand guideline document."

For now, Microsoft is yet to officially reveal LXP or the projects they will or have been working on. Maybe this E3?
