  • PS4 Will Have a Massive Over Xbox One By 2019

Not including the few months of holiday’s season where the Xbox one price dropped once again, PlayStation 4 has sold better so far this generation.

A recent report from citing a Strategy report that Sony will be the “unquestioned leader” over the first five years of this current generation of gaming.

The firm’s connected Home devices report that the PS4 "is on path to reproduce the success of the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Wii." They predict that Sony will enjoy a worldwide installed user base of 80 million by 2019. Further notes states that the PS4’s first-year sale is very close to the uber-dominant PS2, PS4 selling 18.5 million and PS2 selling 20.1 million whereas the PS3 sold only 10.6 million during its first year.

On the other hand Xbox One has sold 12.4 million on its first year out selling the Xbox 360 which sold 10.4 million, which faced similar challenges to the PS3. The lowest sale going to the Wii U which sold a low 5.9 million but is "staging a modest comeback" thanks to first-party software.

Eric Smith the senior strategy Analytics stated:

"Despite reports to the contrary, the game console market is not dead. Core gamers have moved faster to this current generation than in any previous generation. The main difference in this generation is that casual gamers who bought a Wii are remaining largely on the side lines as free-to-play casual games and midcore games on tablets and smartphones have captured this segment of consumers."

  • Ubisoft: Problems with Assassin’s Creed Unity Made Them Stronger

Every cloud has a silver lining, even the blackest ones.

Ubisoft is making another addition to the Assassins creed entry for 2015 and it’ll use the same engine that powered Unity.

Unity as many know had major issues when it first launched, which CEO of Ubisoft Yves Guillemot explained:

When you [build a new engine and tools], it's painful for all the group, and everything has to be recalibrated. And with [Unity], a few things were not perfect when the game was launched."

Guillemot also added "steps are sometimes painful" but they will allow the team to improve the overall quality of the product. Yves was very confident that these problems were lessons learned last year, and that they will be able to take the once-revered series.

He said "At launch, the game had suffered from frame rate issues and bugs which have had a strong resonance among the community. We are blessed to have such passionate and committed fans, and we will always strive to earn their trust and support. We took that situation very seriously, and our teams have been working relentlessly since launch and have provided constant and direct progress updates to our fans."

The rumor is that the next arc will be taking place during Victoria London, and here’s hoping that it will be an awesome game.

  • Resident Evil Remake Dated, Priced

Capcom has announced that a Resident Evil Remake will release on January 20, 2015. The publishers are now calling it the "definitive version" of the first game that started an acclaimed game franchise.

The price as revealed will be $20 for all platforms, which include both current and previous generation of consoles - PS4, PS3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and also the PC. For the people who haven’t been paying attention to gaming new or have forgotten this is indeed the remake of the HD re-iteration of the 2002’s Resident Evil REmake that was released on the GameCube.

Simply put this is a remake of a remake of a classic. In addition to this Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will hit consoles and PC somewhere in 2015, and a recent report has hinted at Resident Evil 7. So I guess the Resident Evil franchise is really trying to make a strong comeback. I for one hope for its best because despite doing poorly at certain points, this franchise is still one my favorites.

  • Titanfall leads software sales still PS4 outsells Xbox One

Things are not looking all too well for Microsoft. Granted that this indeed is a marathon and not a race, the gap Sony is creating seems hard to catch up to.

Titanfall obtained the top spot in March software sales. There was little doubt that the sales for this game would be high, but they destroyed any doubts pitted against them. Needless to say Microsoft had put their hopes on Titanfall to increase sales of Xbox One. At the very least I guess they expected to outsell the PS4 in March upon Titanfall’s release.

"In March 2014, Sony's PS4 led hardware sales for the third month in a row," said Liam Callahan, a video game analyst with NPD Group. Microsoft has announced that it has sold 311,000 units in the US in March, and that in total 5 million Xbox One have been sold to date. But this number only represents Xbox Ones sold to retailers worldwide, and not the number of Xbox Ones purchased by consumers. Even though Sony lead the sales, they did not reveal the number of PS4’s sold in March alone.

Why this is bad news for Microsoft is pretty self-explanatory. Microsoft had bundled Titanfall with the Xbox One in the use at a price point of $499.99, same price just the consoles are sold at normally. In the UK, retailers had also cut the price of the Xbox One unofficially by 30 pounds in March. This was followed up by the price cut on the Titanfall bundle which was priced at 350 pounds, around 80 pounds less than the retail price of the console alone.  The fact that this couldn’t push the console is definitely disconcerting.

Titanfall is still selling well, second highest selling game on the Xbox One, and is currently holding the top spot in March’s software sales followed by the PS4 exclusive Infamous: Second Son. Despite the difference in numbers being sold, both consoles are doing amazing compared to their predecessors.

As Callahan reported, "PS4 and Xbox One continue to see success with cumulative sales of the two consoles through the first five months currently totaling more than double that of their predecessors, the PS3 and Xbox 360."

  • The Last of Us: Remastered coming to the PS4 - Discount for Owners of a PS3 copy

It has been confirmed, The Last of Us is coming to the PS4. Although an official date has not been announced it has been revealed that it has a summer 2014 release schedule. However, according to several retailers (GameFly, GameSpot, Target) The Last of Us: Remastered will be released on June 20, 2014.

Last of Us: Remastered has now been priced at $60 and is said to include revamped visuals, all previously released DLC, commentary from the game’s actors and director, and other bonuses. The following details were posted on the official PlayStation blog.

Neil Druckmann also tweeted about the game recently:

    Neil Druckmann @Neil_Druckmann

For those asking, @Naughty_Dog is developing The Last of Us Remastered and we're targeting 60fps. More info to come. #PS4

However, the $60 price tag has not been received all too well by many gamers. But there may be hope for us yet. According to Sony, they are considering an option to make the game available for cheaper to those who already own the PS3 version. "We’re looking into the business model for all this and will post about this once we have input from all regions," said Naughty Dog's Eric Monacelli on the PlayStation Blog.

This sort of an upgrade was offered pretty widely by Sony last Christmas. That deal basically allowed PS3 gamers who owned AAA titles such as COD: Ghosts, Assassin’s Creed IV: Blag Flag to upgrade to the PS4 version of these games for cheaper.

  • Watch Dogs Official Release Date + Ubisoft Denies Downgrading Game’s Visuals

    watch_dogs_wallpapers_hd (3)

Watch Dogs is easily one of the most anticipated games of this year, despite its delay. So many gamers were disappointed because of the delay but Ubisoft did it for the right reason. According to them the game was not ready yet. Considering the whole Battlefield 4 debacle, Ubisoft definitely made the right choice.

Well at least we have some good news. A trailer was published on Eurogamer which revealed that Watch Dogs will be released on May 27th 2014. However in classic fashion the trailer was pulled down. But Ubisoft has come out and confirmed that May 27th is actually the official release date. So the game was delayed a total of 6 months from its original release date (November 2013).

But it seems that a new issue now plagues Watch Dogs. There seems to a footage out that compares the gameplay vidoes shown when the game was revealed vs what is supposed to be “actual” gameplay video. What the video suggests is that the game is going to look worse than what was shown.

Ubisoft has fortunately come forward and denied the allegations that they had to tone down the visuals of the game to finish it within the short period of time. Tess Vilyn, Ubisoft Benelux PR and events manager, addressed these allegations via a series of Twitter updates such as this:

"Of course it is not downgraded at all. It's a true next-gen game for sure...for sure.."

This controversy began this GIF was posted to NeoGAF forums, which shows a massively visually downgraded police chase segment from Watch Dogs. So much so that it actually seems impossible. Tess Vilyn stands by what he said about the game, and for our sake I hope what he says is all true:

"Believe me the game is not downgraded. That would just be a bit ridiculous. I saw the game it looks incredible. It looks what a next gen should look like."

Watch Dogs will release 27th May for the PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Not much longer before this matter is settled once and for all.

  • Dragon Age: Inquisition – New Trailer Shows Locations, Characters Etc

BioWare just released a new trailer for its first next-gen game Dragon Age: Inquisition, coming to both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. In the two minute trailer they showed off some new locations, factions, predators, and preys players will be experiencing in their epic journey. Check out the trailer at the end of the article.

Since Dragon Age: Inquisition will also be coming to the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, it is still not clear which version of the game (next or current gen) was shown in the trailer. Considering that the video is still of the game in pre-alpha, we can at least expect that the game might look even better in the end.

BioWare producer Cameron Lee said in a blog that, "Dragon Age: Inquisition is BioWare's first next-gen game. It's also our most ambitious game to date.” "Nowhere is this more visible than in the incredible size and diversity of locations, life, and hidden places you’ll discover on your journey." Lee said, "You'll see towns attacked by bandits, deer fleeing from wolves, giants feeding on bears, and countless other scenarios,"

Lee continued to explain that the people and creatures encountered during the game are going to be affected by what they call “emergent system”. This system basically creates player specific scenarios based on the player’s previous actions.  The game will also feature “incredible graphics systems” which will create dynamic weather effects, and according to Lee “huge amounts of various materials that look more realistic than anything we've ever created in a BioWare game."

  • Microsoft: Trade in your PS3 for a $100 Rebate on Xbox One

So Microsoft just came up with a nifty little deal. The deal was spotted by a NeoGAF member and basically asks US consumers to “ditch” their PS3s in favor of getting a brand new Xbox One at a cheaper price.

The PS3s of course have to be in a working condition in order for you to get the rebate. If all is good, then you can walk away with the Xbox One for the price of $399 ( a good $100 rebate from the current retail price). This deal is available through March at Microsoft’s stores in the US.

Of course the deal still applies for Xbox 360s but the highlight in the ad was given to PS3s. Now this is a pretty cheeky move. It is no surprise why the price was set at $399. Their chief competitor the PS4 is priced at that exact point and analysts have been mentioning for a while that the price difference is going to be the major factor for the popularity of the PS4, and it has.

Also considering people who still have not made the jump to the next-gen consoles this might just make the Xbox One and PS4 even more comparable. Plus it is a great way for Microsoft to snag those PS3 players who would technically upgrade to a PS4, since that is what happens usually. Xbox 360 users go for Xbox One and PS3 users go for PS4. It is just convenient really.
