  • Naughty Dog Talks Uncharted 4

We are getting more and more news about Uncharted 4 which is great. This means the project is going on strong and might be delivering the same amazing things that we love the franchise for.

In a recent interview with GameCrate, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End co-director Bruce Straley said they have "really, really cool ideas" for the UC4 and that there are some things that they are “still trying to figure out”. Considering the last statement, I wonder how far in development is UC4. Bruce said, "We're still trying to figure it out and yet I have faith in the team, I have faith in where we're going with it. I can say we have some really, really, cool ideas that I'm really excited to... sometime show you. That's all I can say but it's going to be awesome. I'm excited so you should be excited. Naughty Dog has a track record and just trust us, it's going to be cool."

Sadly he did not mention anything specific. But I can't help but get excited, it is Naughty Dog after all. I won't be surprised if we get to see something by December along with the two new PS4 exclusives that are rumored to be revealed.

  • Another PS4 Exclusive Revealed: Bloodborne

From the renowned Japanese developer team From Software comes another PlayStation 4 exclusive titled Bloodborne. Since the first time it was announced, gamers have been waiting to get a look at the game. At Gamescom 2014 they showed off an impressive trailer that definitely made the wait worth it. A playable demo was made available at this year's PAX Prime as well. The world is highly detailed, the monsters look incredibly scary, and the weapons look very cool.

Considering From Software is behind both Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls, you can definitely see a hint of that in the game in terms of movement. But that gives me that much assurance that this game has the chance of becoming another classic. Check out the trailer below!

  • Insider Says Nathan Drake Will be Uncharted 4 Protagonist

    PS4 Game

Well-known gaming industry insider Tidux has given some information on Uncharted 4, and by the sounds of it, things are certainly going to be quite interesting. Last week, Tidux mentioned that Uncharted 4 was going to be a more story-driven game. Tidux has now stated that he’s seen gameplay footage of the latest build of Uncharted 4, and apparently he has ‘no words’ for just how good the title is.

Luckily, that’s not quite true - Tidux did have some words to share on Uncharted 4, but they are all pretty positive. Firstly, Tidux has said that the game is looking great in regards to the graphics, which really isn’t unexpected at this point; Naughty Dog have always been pioneers when it comes to graphical capability on consoles, and the PlayStation 4 will give them a lot more hardware power to dig their teeth into.

Tidux also went on to confirm that the protagonist for Uncharted 4 will be Nathan Drake, going back to the roots of the franchise. I expect the game will delve more deeply into Nathan Drake’s personal story, so I think Uncharted 4 will be an incredibly important game for the series as a whole.

Remember that this information is not official, so don’t take it at face value just yet. Hopefully you’ll hear more about it very soon - E3 is very close, and if we don’t hear anything about it then, there’s bound to be a lot to hear about it at some point this year.

  • Guerrilla Games' New IP To Feature Robot Dinosaurs

    PS4 Exclusive

Recently, Guerrilla Games unveiled that their new title was going to be an open world RPG, despite their history being firmly rooted in the first person shooter genre. At the time of the unveiling, details on the new IP were on the low, but since then, we’ve heard more and more about the title, and now, we have enough information to get some sort of sense about what kind of game Guerrilla’s new RPG title will be like.

Unfortunately, the following information does not come from an official source, but instead from none other than Shinobi602, an industry insider that couldn’t help but spill all the beans on the latest and greatest video games currently under development.

According to Shinobi602, the brand new open world RPG from Guerrilla Games will include ‘robot dinos’ and ‘other weird exotic creatures,’ suggesting that the game will be set in a futuristic environment. Shinobi602 also mentioned that the protagonist will be a red headed female.

I can’t help but wonder what the gameplay content will be like in Guerrilla Game’s new IP. Whilst the genre is completely new, there may still be some form of first person combat involved, and the futuristic setting that Guerrilla Games is best known for portraying will still be present in the new game.

Whilst Shinobi602 is pretty renowned for being on top with rumors, it’s best to take this information with a grain of salt.

  • Drive Club Game Director Says Microtransactions Not Required

As you might already know, Plus members have been getting a small segment of Drive Club for free. In addition you will be able to upgrade to the full game for a lower price. But there was a bit of an issue that arose with it.  Supposedly if your PS Plus expired you would lose access to the game even if you had paid to upgrade it.

Good thing however was that Sony now has cancelled that decision and players now will have access to the game even if the subscription runs out. Following this, game director Paul Rustchynsky brought attention to the microtransactions that will be utilized in Drive Club, in order to clarify this sore subject as well.

"It's been a hot topic of late inside gaming, and we've been very keen to take on board the feedback from gamers and make sure we don’t upset anyone. So, in Driveclub, what we've done is make sure that the progression system is really straightforward, really simple, and gives you access to a lot of content really quickly."

He also explained the Fame system which is the basis of game. Players level up as they earn more Fame and as each time they level up you get to unlock a new car.  This is basically how one would pay the game without any microtransactions. Others who want to unlock a car by simply paying for it also have that option through microtransactons.

"If you want to unlock a car immediately, you can pay to unlock that car straight away but it's not a consumable microtransaction. We don't let people buy Fame, for example and spend lots and lots. The idea is if you want to shortcut things you can do--it's identical to what we did in Motorstorm RC. So if you played that, you know what we're doing here."

It has been a long time coming but we are at the final stretch. Driveclub will be coming exclusively to PS4 on 7th October 2014.

  • Infamous: Second Son Gets New Features

There is no denying that Infamous Second Son is beautiful. I mean as expected from a PS4 exclusive, the graphics are it looks absolutely gorgeous. To allow players to take full advantage of the visuals of the game Sucker Punch has released a major update. I can’t remember the last time such an update was released for another game. I mean there are patches that upgrade the game’s performance but nothing that comes to my mind that added such a unique feature to a game post launch.

As detailed by Sucker Punch’s Brian Fleming, this patch would allow players who already finished the campaign once to access this Photo Mode. This feature allows gamers to pause the game and take control of the camera to take pictures of our protagonists in the midst of cool combos, or with him just posing in front of something surreal and share with the SHARE button. Check out the video to see all that you can do:

    Infamous Photo Mode :

These are the full list of tweaks that were released with the update:

    • A handful of localization text changes, and a couple of fixes for rare crashes in the game (Thanks to all of you who uploaded reports on those, they were extremely helpful!).
    • If your controller runs out of batteries in the middle of gameplay, your game will pause. Our art director pulled a hamstring scrambling to get his second controller mid-boss-battle, so we needed to fix this.
    • If you’re choosing expert difficulty, we let you know within the options dialog if you’re qualified for the “Unstoppable” trophy the moment you opt in.
    • Photo Mode.
  • The Last Guardian Has Not Been Cancelled

All of us who were fans of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus totally went bonkers when we say the reveal of The Last Guardian. It felt like we were going to get another epic adventure that would stay with us forever. But it has been many a year since it’s reveal and still no news about it.

Now again we find a small glimpse of hope that maybe we still have a chance of experiencing this adventure. Although, this doesn’t tell us anything about when the game will finally be released. Still I got to be honest, any news is good news to me. This game has been in “development” for 8 years now, I am just glad it isn’t dead.

Talking to IGN, PlayStation boss Scott Rohde said that he knew he was giving a “frustrating answer” to the question – what is the deal with The Last Guardian. HE continued on to say that they just wanted to make the game, any game, great.  When asked more specifically what whether this game was now going to become a PS4 title now, he did not mention any specific platforms. All he said was that the project is "absolutely in the mix at Worldwide Studios."

He continued on to say,"[I] actually like talking about The Last Guardian. I love that people are still interested in it. That’s an honor to us. That’s not just me spinning… It’s really cool that people are still interested in it, and we’re trying to make the best thing we can out of The Last Guardian."

  • Sony Santa Monica Layoffs Killed The Studio's New IP

This is sad news for gamers everywhere. Sony Santa Monica studio just suffered a round of lay-offs due to what they claim to be a “cycle of resource re-alignment”. It is bad that many lost their jobs but to make matters worse, it seems that this might have cost a new IP that the team was working on.

Although Sony had nothing to say about the new IP, they did release the following official comment. A former employee however has confirmed that the new IP has been cancelled. This is what Jonathan Hawkins, former lead level designer, had to say on Twitter:

"Yesterday, I was laid off. It was a good 10 year run & I got to make three 90+ games. I lived the dream & got to accomplish all of my goals. Except one… making something out of nothing & creating a new AAA IP.

The saddest part of waking up today is I no longer get to work with my family. Secondly, the pain that I feel for my friends who have lost their jobs. The saddest & most important part is the game I was creating for the player that will never be played. I'm sorry that I've failed you."

Reports now say that the new IP might have been conceived by Stig Asmussen, the director of God of War 3. Although we have no idea about the IP but considering the people who were creating it, this is definitely going to be a loss for the gamers. All we can hope for now is that the IP will be passed on to another one of Sony’s internal studios and maybe we can see it one day. For now the silver lining is that the team will continue to assist in the making of The Order:1886. I have high hopes for this game.

  • The Order 1886: Almost Max’s Out PS4

The Order 1886 is a truly unique looking IP and PlayStation fans are really hyped about its release. Naturally people have been looking for all that they could find about this game, and it seems we finally got a bit more info.

Recently we got to know a bit more about the story and there was even a gameplay video. Now we get to find out how pretty or visually impressive this game is going to be. Gamepur asked Blooper Team Marketing Manager Aron Cender and about The Order. Although Cender isn’t a part of Ready at Dawn’s new IP but he is part of the Blooper Team who are developing the PS4 exclusive Basement Crawl, so he probably understands quite a bit about the PS4 and similar matters.  When he was asked whether The Order 1886 will be maxing out the PS4 he said,

"I don’t think it's maxing it out, but I believe it should be pretty close to it. I hope we are gonna see more games of that visual quality in the future, since that was the reason next-gen was introduced."

He went on to praise the details of the game’s environment which are supposed to be amazing, and a key factor in the game. Well the good thing is that the new consoles are so accessible that developers can start making great games from the start. As I said before, this is a great era for gamers.
