  • Blizzard Gearing Up To Release Diablo III Ultimate Evil Edition

    diablo 3 ultimate evil edition

Blizzard has just confirmed their plans to release a brand new bundle pack for Diablo 3 that will release later this year. The new pack will be available for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, and has been named the Ultimate Evil Edition.

Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition will include the original game, as well as the Reaper of Souls expansion, and it has been set for release on August 19th this year.

For those that have already played on their old gen consoles but would like to purchase Diablo 3 for either the PS4 or the Xbox One, there will be an option that will allow you to transfer your current character over to another console. This option is platform based, so only Xbox 360 characters can be transferred to the Xbox One, and only PS3 characters can be transferred to the PlayStation 4.

As expected, there won’t be any variation between the different console versions, and all four consoles will be capable of four player local and online multiplayer. Besides from the added expansion pack, players will also have access to a brand new Apprentice Mode that will reward low level players who play alongside more experienced players.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition will be available for $39.99, whilst the PS4 and Xbox One versions will be available for a higher $59.99. If you pre-order either the new version of Diablo 3 for any console, you’ll receive a code that will unlock wearable pauldrons that offer vitality and cooldown reduction.

  • Watch_Dogs is Now Gold, Ready for May 27th Release

    watch dogs release

Watch_Dogs is an open world game that has been under development by Ubisoft for around 5 years now, so it’s understandable why Ubisoft may be excited to announced that the game has now finally gone gold, after previous delays earlier on in the year.

Creative director Jonathan Morin commented on the milestone by saying “It’s exciting to be gold, but it’ll be more exciting when people are playing. For the fans it means that it’s true. It means there will be no such thing as another delay. But for us, it’s not done until they actually have it in their hands.”

Luckily, it won’t be long before we finally can get our hands on Watch_Dogs - Ubisoft has set the global release for the open world hackbox game for May 27th, so we’re a little over a week away before it’s available.

A lot of commotion has spread across the internet recently and early reviews and mediocre gameplay footage have turned some players away from Watch_Dogs, but despite the game only running at 30fps in 792p, I personally think the game will be well worth playing.

The premise of Watch_Dogs is original enough to make the experience enjoyable, no matter what the graphical quality of the game is like. It’s unlikely anything will change now that Watch_Dogs has gone gold, so if you’re truly upset that your new next gen title won’t run at 60fps consistently then you may want to find another game.

  • Xbox One Exclusive: Sunset Overdrive Gameplay

Sunset Overdrive is supposed to be a carefree adventure with a story which doesn't aim to take itself seriously. This game is just meant to be fast and fun. The story goes as such. The corrupt company FizzCo. released an energy drink called Overcharge Delirium XT which had horrible side effects including – rage, disfiguration and massive addiction.

To cover up the FizzCo. shuts down the city and blames the cause of the mutants (called OD’D) on a viral outbreak.  Now 17 days have gone by since the event started and you (the gamer) and a bunch of other survivors trapped in the city realize that they have to take matters into their own hands in order to find a solution.

Creative co-directory Drew Murray said, "When we started as pre-production, traversal was not envisioned as part of the game. Instead, we spent a lot of time talking about the mood and about how we want players to feel. I want it to sound like Iggy Pop's Search and Destroy, that's the feeling that I want players to have while they're playing the game and moving through the world."

Co-conceiver of Sunset Overdrive Marcus Smith added, "It was Cameron [Christian, lead designer] who really pushed for that notion of having something that's easy to jump into but that holds a sense of mastery.”

Christian then explained, "We want to encourage people to experiment and not be penalized for trying crazy stuff even when they're up high, because it really sucks when you've worked your way to the top of a building and then you fall down and have to start again.”

"So, we created a system to mitigate by going with a tiered playground approach that ramps up in difficulty as you get higher. The first level is basic, easy traversal with long lines and easy bounces so a new player can approach that and get going right away. As you move up it gets more difficult and the highest level has a lot more wall-runs and need for vision and skill."

"When we first started out, combat and traversal were two separate things. Traversal was really used as a defensive measure but that didn't last long once we discovered that shooting while grinding was fun.”

"We were scared that it would be a lot to take in and once we started mixing the two we had to adjust some of our world-building rules. So, 8m grinds are the minimum and in combat-heavy areas we have to make sure the grinds stretch a lot longer so that the player has time to shoot a dude and readjust to look for the next traversal option."

So all in all this game sound like it can be a fun experience. Running around and trying to defeat both human and AI opposition in a fast paced, colorful world of a comical nature. No gameplay has been released just yet but should be soon and you know we will keep you posted when it does!

  • Next-Gen Assassin’s Creed: Leaked Images

So we all know that there will be 2 Assassin’s Creeds coming out this year. One of them has been confirmed via leaked images and is being called Unity. From what we know the story will be set during the French revolution and thus is set in France with a new assassin called Arno. There are rumors of a new navigation mechanic for Assassin’s Creed which will be revealed along with the game: buttons that allow players to “parkour” up and down.

The leaked screenshot shows our Assassin lurking about in what seems to be 18th century Paris. We get glimpses of the Seine River and Notre Dame along with other notable landmarks. According to rumors, these pictures are from the early phase of productions so they lack the polish of the final game.

Check out the leaked images from Kotaku -

So according to latest rumors Unity is being released for current gen consoles (PS4 and Xbox One) while the second game presumably called Comet will be released for last gen consoles, PS3 and Xbox 360. We can also expect both of these games to arrive on PC.

The release of 2 games this fall as opposed to the yearly release of 1 game might just mean that Ubisoft is allowing its teams to really do their best. Instead of trying to make a game that works on both current and last gen consoles, each team is set with the task of making a game that is best for a particular generation. This way Unity could achieve something that it would not be if attempted to be fitted into the constraints of last gen consoles.

Well you can see it in another way. The fact that they have been milking the Assassin’s Creed franchise with HD remakes of older versions of the game and also the new mobile game “Pirates” which has nothing to do with the franchise, might make it seem this is just another way for them to maximize their profits. But hey, we will hold our judgements till the end. We are the ones who buy the games and they don’t force it on us. Buy it if you like it, and vote with your wallet!

  • Batman Arkham Knight: How the Batmobile Works

Batman: Arkham Knight is the highly anticipated conclusion to Rocksteady’s Batman Arkham trilogy. The game will be released exclusively on next gen consoles and will feature not only a massive map but also the Batmobile. The Batmobile is a major component of the game and the developers have been able to implement a lot of new gamplay mechanics thanks to it.

Dax Ginn, markeing produces of Rocksteady, was interviewed recently about what the capabilities of the batmobile would be and what kind of variations we could see in the game thanks to it. The following was his lengthy response:

"I think there are a lot of driving games where we could have kind of borrowed gameplay mechanics just because they're easy," he said. "For us, the focus was: 'What's the Batmobile all about? How do we make the experience feel really unique? We really were very concerned about the Batmobile experience feeling like a bolted on driving mode, and we did not want that. That would have been a real failure for us.

So the integration that you saw between the functionality of the Batmobile and the abilities of Batman himself was really important to us, and we developed them early on. So [we have] the ejection—being able to use the speed of the Batmobile and translate that into Batman's movement and then calling the Batmobile back in—kind of splitting them up and then reuniting them in a seamless way.

The challenges around the city are laid out so that if you need to move along a flat plane, obviously the Batmobile is going to be the best way to do that, but there's a lot of gameplay that is set in the vertical plane, so you are encouraged by the nature of the city to leave the Batmobile. But you never need to feel like, 'Oh I need to remember where it is.'

As I noted, the destruction stands out. There's more demolition-derby and bulldozing to this Batmobile than I'd anticipated. Ginn believes that'll please players and help them still feel like a superhero. "It's really nice to be able to say, 'If you get turn slightly wrong as you're making a right turn and you're going to run into the side of the building, you're just going to rip that corner of the building off,' rather than something that just stops the Batmobile, which totally kills the power fantasy of the Batmobile."

"Batman's no-kill policy is pretty non-negotiable whether he's driving or not. You would have seen thugs taking care of themselves," Ginn said. In addition: "The Batmobile is loaded up with a taser system, so, if any thugs come at the Batmobile when it's parked up, it will just taser them automatically and throw them away. And you would have seen it in our previous games that if there is a situation where the player would be able to lethally interact with someone, the game kind of reminds you that, 'Hey, look, you're Batman here, this is not just something you want to try and undermine. You need to be the Batman.' There are systems we have that encourage the player to take this seriously and behave the way Batman would."

The ability to rip through Gotham’s buildings, trees, barricades and pretty much anything else in a super powered tank sounds like a load of fun. Don’t worry though, the night the game takes in entirety of Gotham city is evacuated so, you will not be risking any civilians. I cannot wait for them to show us a bit of the gameplay.

  • Watch Dogs’ Reveal "Was A Bit Early" According to Game’s Director

Who wasn't just blown away with Watch Dogs’ reveal? It was amazing, the first game that actually looked next gen. The story was unique, the gameplay was fresh and oh the graphics, the beautiful graphics. Not surprisingly everyone went bonkers for the game and it quickly reached the top of everyone’s most anticipated title.

Unfortunately, the delay happened. Not only that, there has been negative press lately that claims that the graphics of the game have been significantly downgraded; and I mean significantly. In light of all this Watch Dog’s game director has come forward and said that maybe the E3 2012 reveal was a bit too early.

In talking to Edge, Jonathan Morin said they were actually forced to make a presentation that year, "They forced us to go at E3 2012. Yves was the one who wanted us to go at that E3, even though we felt it was a bit early."

Morin is referring to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot as the person who insisted they present the game. Although he continues to say that he does in the end think that it was the right decision, “I think he was right”.

With all the bad press, this sort of info really doesn't show the game in good light. However the publishers have insisted that the game will definitely look next gen and if that’s the case, the delay is not really a huge deal. People will buy the game regardless, just a few months later than expected.

  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Delayed

No doubt Witcher 3 is one of the most anticipated RPGs that will be coming out this year. I covered this just a few days ago where they revealed a myriad of new locations and wild life that we will get to experience in Witcher 3.

But as many would have guessed, this highly ambitious RPG being developed by CD project Red, has been sadly delayed. Originally it was supposed to be released this fall but now it seems it will be pushed back to February 2015! That is a massive delay and no doubt fans everywhere are letting out a disheartened cry.

To ease our pain the studio has come forward and addressed the fans in an official letter, in which they say that they could have released the game by fall but that would basically cause the quality to suffer. Seems they want an additional few months to really polish the game.

"We recently reexamined what we had achieved thus far, and faced a choice about the game's final release date. The decision we made was difficult, thoroughly considered, and ultimately clear and obvious. We could have released the game towards the end of this year as we had initially planned. Yet we concluded that a few additional months will let us achieve the quality that will satisfy us, the quality gamers expect from us. Consequently, we have set the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for February 2015."

  • MGSV Phantom Pain - Kojima Worries It Will Be Too Huge to Finish

So MGS V Ground Zeroes has received a lot of praise for its story and overall gameplay but, has received equal criticism for being too short. According to reviewers the main mission (ignoring side quests and all) takes about 2 hours to complete. This ticked off a lot of people for which reason the price of the game was dropped by $10, to $30.

So now it seems that MGS V Ground Zeroes was just short because it was the prelude, but the main game MGS V Phantom Pain is going to be huge. So much so that Kojima now fears gamers might not be able to finish it.

According to Hideo Kojima, the game is “more than 200x bigger than Ground Zeroes”, and although the number of missions have not been confirmed, there seems to be a lot of them. This is what he said,

"It’s not about clearing the story, it’s not about clearing the mission. It's about discovering new elements, new routes, new ways to play."

This raises more questions. Is the game really going to be as big as Skyrim? 200x bigger than MGS Ground Zeroes, so will it have a 400+ hours of storyline at least? Hope we get some answers.
